Getting started
What is an AI voice agent?
An AI voice agent is software that answers and makes phone calls using speech recognition, a large language model and natural text-to-speech. Unlike an IVR phone menu, callers simply speak; the agent understands the request, looks up answers in your business knowledge, takes actions such as booking an appointment, and replies in a natural voice.
Is the AI receptionist available 24/7?
Yes. It answers every call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year — including nights, weekends and public holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Canada Day and UK bank holidays. You can also set it to answer only after hours, during lunch, or when your lines are busy.
Can I keep my existing business phone number?
Yes. You keep your number and forward calls to your Naracord routing number — always, when busy, or when unanswered after a set number of rings. It works with US, Canadian and UK mobile carriers and with VoIP systems such as RingCentral, Vonage, Nextiva, Dialpad, 8x8, Zoom Phone and Microsoft Teams Phone.
How long does setup take? Do I need technical skills?
Most businesses are live in about 15 minutes with no code. An onboarding engineer helps you set up call forwarding, connect your calendar and load your knowledge base, then you place a test call.
How does the AI learn about my business?
It is trained on your website, service menus, price lists, FAQs and policies. You can update this knowledge at any time from the dashboard and changes take effect immediately.
Calls, voice & languages
What languages and accents does it support?
English with natural American, Canadian and British accents, US Spanish, and Canadian (Québécois) French. It detects the caller's language automatically and can switch mid-call.
What happens if a caller asks something the AI doesn't know?
It only answers from your approved knowledge. If it doesn't know, it says so, takes a detailed message and texts or emails your team, or transfers the call to a person — it doesn't make things up.
Can it recognize urgent calls and transfer them to a person?
Yes. You define urgent situations (for example 'burst pipe', 'no heat' or 'severe pain') and the agent warm-transfers those callers to your on-call number with a short spoken summary, following your escalation chain if nobody answers.
How many calls can it handle at once?
There is no practical limit. Every caller is answered immediately, even if dozens call at the same moment, so there's no hold queue or busy signal.
Will callers know they're speaking with AI?
We recommend — and in some jurisdictions you're required — to disclose that calls may be recorded and handled by an AI assistant. A short disclosure is built into the default greeting.
Booking & integrations
How does appointment booking work?
Naracord connects to Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook/365, Calendly or Acuity, plus supported practice and field-service software. It offers only genuinely open slots, writes confirmed bookings straight into your calendar and texts the caller a confirmation.
Which CRMs and business tools does it integrate with?
HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, GoHighLevel and Follow Up Boss; ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber; Clio; Shopify; Slack and Microsoft Teams; and thousands more through Zapier or webhooks.
Where do call recordings and summaries go?
Every call produces a recording, a full transcript and a short summary. They're available in your dashboard and can be sent by email, SMS, Slack or Teams, or written to your CRM.
Security & compliance
Is Naracord HIPAA compliant?
Naracord supports HIPAA-compliant use: we sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with US covered entities, encrypt data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), and restrict access by role. HIPAA compliance also depends on how your practice configures and uses the service.
Does it comply with UK GDPR and Canadian privacy law?
Yes. We act as a data processor and provide a Data Processing Agreement for UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and handle personal information in line with PIPEDA and Québec Law 25 in Canada. Retention periods are configurable and data subject requests are supported.
Is outbound AI calling legal in the US, Canada and UK?
Yes, with consent and within the rules. In the US, the FCC treats AI-generated voices as 'artificial voice' under the TCPA, so prior express consent is required for most calls to mobiles. Canada applies CRTC telemarketing rules and the National DNCL; the UK applies PECR and TPS screening. Naracord enforces consent flags, calling hours and do-not-call lists.
How is call data secured?
Voice streams and transcripts are encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based with multi-factor authentication, and we never use your data to train shared models without your written permission.
Pricing & setup
How much does an AI receptionist cost?
Plans start from $199/month (USD) plus a one-time setup fee from $399. Your exact price depends on how many AI minutes you use each month (plans range from 300 to 6,000+ minutes), which integrations you connect and how many languages you need. We confirm everything in a written quote before you sign.
What does the setup fee cover?
Setup starts from $399 and covers deploying your agent: configuring call forwarding, loading your knowledge base, writing your greeting and call flows, and test calls with you before go-live. Extra integrations or custom work are quoted separately.
Is there a contract or a free demo?
Plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract. Before you commit, we'll run a free live demo with an agent set up for your business so you can hear how it handles your calls. Pricing is in US dollars; applicable sales tax, GST/HST/PST or VAT is added.
